Chain 35
Row 1: Starting in 4th ch from hook, work 20 dc, 10 hdc, hdc2tog decrease
Turn
Row 2: ch 2 (does not count as hdc), 2hdctog (a), working through BLO, 10 hdc, 19 dc, 2 dc  in the top of the turning chain from row 1, catching 2 loops of the chain.
Turn
Row 3: ch 3, dc in first dc in the row, working through BLO, 19 dc, 10 hdc, 2hdctog (b).
Turn

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you’ve completed 36 rows, ending with row 2.

Make a 1/4 turn and sc across the bottom edge of the work.

Choose a right side of the work by laying the work down with your swirly hat and deciding which way you would like your cowl to swirl – in the same, or opposite direction of your hat. Once you have decided on a right side, be sure to work your sc border row with that side facing you.

Holding right sides together, slip stitch seam

Working from right side, sc around the top edge.

Fasten off

Weave in all ends
